Troubleshooting Instagram Connection and Posting Issues

This guide assists you in resolving common Instagram connection problems and posting failures within AdaptlyPost.

The fastest fix for most issues

The most frequent solution for Instagram posting errors is refreshing your connection. Navigate to the Accounts section and click Refresh Instagram. This re-establishes the connection and addresses the majority of posting errors.

Troubleshooting video uploads

If you are experiencing difficulty uploading videos to Instagram, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Accounts section in your dashboard
  2. Click Refresh Instagram
  3. Verify that the correct accounts, pages, and businesses are selected under Edit previous settings on the Meta reconnect page

Video posts failing due to compression issues

  • If your Instagram video posts fail because of compression problems, retrying the post will not fix the issue since the retry uses the original, unoptimized video file.
  • To post the video successfully, you need to recreate the post and reupload the video so it gets properly processed and compressed to meet Instagram's standards.

Frequently seen error messages

Request failed with status code 400

If this error appears when posting to Instagram, go to the Accounts page and click the Refresh Instagram button.

400 Session Invalid errors

This error points to a session problem on Instagram's side. Two workarounds are available:

  • Wait 12 hours and attempt to connect again
  • Connect through Facebook Pages: Link your Instagram account to a Facebook Page, then use the Facebook login for Instagram integration

OAuthException code 2

The error "IG Error (OAuthException, code 2): An unexpected error has occurred" indicates authentication problems caused by backend issues.

"Already connected" or "Unsupported get request"

To resolve these connection errors:

  1. Deauthorize AdaptlyPost from your Instagram account at https://www.instagram.com/accounts/website_permissions/
  2. Reconnect through AdaptlyPost

If "Unsupported get request" errors continue, they may be related to video codec issues that need patches.

Instagram account prerequisites

Your Instagram account must be configured as a Creator or Business account and linked to a Facebook Business Page to function with AdaptlyPost.

Alternative method for connecting

If the direct Instagram connection does not work, use the Facebook connection workaround:

  1. Link your Instagram account to your Facebook pages
  2. Use the Facebook connection option in AdaptlyPost
  3. This approach works when the direct Instagram connection fails

In-depth troubleshooting

For persistent connection issues, try the deauthorization process:

  1. Visit Instagram's website permissions page
  2. Remove AdaptlyPost from your authorized applications
  3. Go back to AdaptlyPost and reconnect your account
