Troubleshooting Instagram Connection Issues in AdaptlyPost

This guide assists you in resolving common Instagram connection problems that prevent your posts from being published successfully.

Typical Instagram Connection Issues

You may encounter connection issues after updating your Facebook or Instagram password, run into permission errors, or see empty account lists when attempting to connect. These problems usually prevent your scheduled posts from publishing as expected.

Quick Solution: Refresh Your Instagram Connection

Most Instagram publishing failures can be fixed with a straightforward refresh:

  1. Navigate to the Connections tab
  2. Click the Refresh Instagram button
  3. This should address the majority of publishing failures

Reconnecting After a Password Update

If you updated your Facebook or Instagram password and posts are failing, the connection needs to be re-established:

  • Password updates break the existing link between AdaptlyPost and your accounts
  • If you previously disconnected accounts, any scheduled posts tied to that account will fail
  • You can modify scheduled posts by clicking the scheduled card and linking it with the newly reconnected account

Going forward, use the "Refresh Instagram" button instead of disconnecting accounts to preserve your scheduled posts.

Resolving Permission Errors

For the error `(#10) Application does not have permission for this action`:

  1. Navigate to the Connections page
  2. Click the Refresh Instagram button
  3. When the Facebook permissions window opens, click Edit previous settings
  4. Ensure you check the boxes for all businesses you manage with your Facebook account
  5. This guarantees the access key is granted for all of them

If you select only one business account, permissions for the others may be revoked, leading to post failures.

Empty list of connected accounts

When a "reconnect button" is displayed but the connected accounts list is empty:

  • Click the Edit previous settings option
  • Manually select the business, the page, and the Instagram account that are linked together

Further Troubleshooting Steps

If the solutions above do not resolve the issue:

  1. Verify whether the account appears in your connections dashboard (it could be a display error)
  2. As a last resort, disconnect the account and then attempt to reconnect it
  3. Refer to the external troubleshooting guide: Instagram Connection Troubleshooting

When adding multiple accounts, make sure that any previously connected accounts remain checked to avoid connection errors.
