How AdaptlyPost handles Instagram image aspect ratios and cropping

AdaptlyPost publishes Instagram images at the aspect ratio you upload, so export each image at a ratio Instagram accepts before you add it.

When every image in a carousel post has the same aspect ratio, no cropping occurs. Your images will retain their original proportions and appear exactly as you uploaded them.

When images have different aspect ratios, Instagram crops every image after the first to match the first image's aspect ratio. Upload all carousel images at the same ratio to avoid this.

Upload images at the right aspect ratio

AdaptlyPost does not crop or resize Instagram images. Export each image at a ratio Instagram accepts before you upload it: 1:1 (1080x1080) for square posts, 4:5 (1080x1350) for portrait posts, or 1.91:1 (1080x566) for landscape posts.

AdaptlyPost publishes the file exactly as you uploaded it, and Instagram rejects feed images narrower than 4:5 or wider than 1.91:1.

Planned enhancements

A feature offering greater control over cropping is in development and will be integrated into the content studio. This will provide you with more flexibility in how your images are processed before being published to Instagram.
