Facebook text posts with a colored background

Facebook lets a Page publish a short text post on a colored, gradient or illustrated background, the large-type status you see in the feed. AdaptlyPost can schedule those posts for you, one by one or in bulk.

What Facebook allows

• Text posts to Facebook Pages only. A post with an image, a video or a document can't have a background.
• Up to 130 characters. AdaptlyPost warns you as you type and refuses to schedule a longer post with a background.
• A link in the text shows without a preview card.
• If Facebook refuses the background when the post goes out, AdaptlyPost publishes the text without it rather than failing the post.

Pick a background in the composer

1. Create a text post and select your Facebook Page.
2. Open the Facebook settings under the caption.
3. Click a background. The first row has the solid colors and gradients; Show 51 more opens the illustrations. Hover a tile to see its name.
4. The preview on the right shows the post on the background.

Bulk Text Scheduling

In Bulk Text Scheduling you can set a background three ways:

• For every post: pick one in the Facebook settings on the right. It applies to every post that has no background of its own.
• Per post: open a post and pick a background there, or pick No background to leave that one plain.
• From your file: add a facebook_background column to your CSV or Excel file. Put a name from the table below (for example Purple or Red Blue, case and spaces don't matter) or the Facebook ID. Leave the cell empty to use the background chosen for every post.

The example file under Download example has the column filled in.

Rotating backgrounds

To rotate backgrounds through a week of engagement questions, give each row its own value in facebook_background:

text,date,facebook_background
"Coffee or tea?",2030-10-07 09:00,Purple
"What's one tool you can't work without?",2030-10-08 09:00,Red Blue
"Morning person or night owl?",2030-10-09 09:00,Hearts 3d

Through the API

Send the ID as textFormatPresetId in facebookConfigs. See Platform Configs.
